Pick your poison, please!

I gotta vent real quick. You wouldn't believe these people I just spoke with on the phone. I called this office to schedule a chest X-ray......... well let me back up. For my new job position, I have to have a negative Tuberculosis test within 30 days of my hiring date. Typically a TB test is one in which dead tuberculosis bacteria is injected under your skin, usually your forearm. When I questioned the nurse about this, she said there is NO chance of getting tuberculosis from this test. Okay, fine. But I still don't want anything injected into my body that doesn't need to be there! So I requested a chest x-ray. She said they only do chest x-rays for "positive testers." Which I am not.

You all know my crazy health history. I have a very poor immune system and I'm still trying to get myself healthy again. I explained I've been very sick in the past and am wary of doing these sorts of things. I mean seriously... I've had MRSA, rheumatic fever, kidney failure.... was on IV therapy, steroid therapy, AND antibiotics for 2 years.... before I learned that none of that was truly helping me. So after 20 minutes of defending myself to this lady, she FINALLY shut up and informed me that there is a blood test that they can test for TB instead of doing the injection and that would be much safer than the skin test and chest x-ray.

.......................

.....

Thank you.
Oh! But it can only be done by my family physician through my private insurance because it's too expensive.

ah-ha! no wonder she didn't mention this before.

Now let me tell you how I haven't been to the doctor since that whole fiasco in which I was told to quit breastfeeding so I can take more medication to try and alleviate symptoms......... instead of being tested like I was requesting..... oh and that breastfeeding Wyatt at 12 months was only for bonding; there is no nutritional value. I swear to you this happened to me.

anyway... so I ask for another doctor to see for this blood test. One who is known in our community to be a little more understanding of hippie/alternative lifestyles such as mine.... unlike his partner that I've been seeing since I was 12. The receptionist wasn't happy about that one. She took the longest amount of time possible to find something available and then stated it was going to be in three weeks if I wanted THAT doctor. Yep! Fine!

sheesh people... I just don't understand why everyone is so quick to judge.... let me live my life!!!!
