3 months later...

wow, I severely slacked off with this blog.. I'm not even sure I could fill everyone in with everything that has happened between April to now. We had baby showers, our wedding :), and the best part... Wyatt Joseph Baird was born! (we changed the middle name to Joseph after both of our dad's.. their middle names are Joseph too!)

the best girl friends :)
beautiful 2-tiered cake!

So I guess I'm just gonna skip ahead through the boring end of the pregnancy part. Main points of the last two months: heartburn SUCKED, Wyatt is super long and was constantly in my ribs, and I laid around and did noooothing for two or three weeks before he was due.

Fun part: Nothing had been happening all week as far as going into labor, so we had scheduled for an induction on Monday evening, the 27th. However, on my due date, June 25th, Zack and I went to the hospital to get a non-stress test for the baby.... hoping maybe I would be in labor.... nothing. So, disappointed we would have to wait until Monday to meet our baby, we decided to run errands and stop by our cousin Andrew's baseball tournaments. Later on, we met up with our friends Katie and Patrick for dinner where my contractions quietly started. By the time we got home a few hours later, the contractions were coming at 4-5 minutes apart & we started to get excited! By 2am Sunday morning, we were checking into the hospital - only to be disappointed in finding out I was only 2cm dilated. By 8am, I still was only at 3cm so I got an epidural and the doc broke my water. We waited.
and waited.
and waited.
and waited. FINALLY by 6pm, yes.. 6pm.. I was ready to start pushing. But Wyatt wasn't budging. Stinker had turned his head and gotten stuck, and after 45 minutes of pushing, his heart rate shot up too high for the doctors liking.. plus I spiked a fever over 102, so we all agreed on an emergency C-section. Shortly after being whisked away, Wyatt Joseph Baird, all swollen and wrinkly, made his debut to the world at 7:36pm weighing in 7lbs 6oz and measuring 21 inches long. (which is EXACTLY what Zack's measurements were..weird)

Then we spent a few days recovering in the hospital, came home, and now fast forward 2 1/2 weeks later, and my beautiful baby boy is starting to look so much like his daddy, it makes me a little sad none of my genes dominated. He's also sleeping 5 hours a night, and is not a crier at ALL. He's the baby that would rather sit in his poopy diaper sleeping than waste energy crying. I feel so blessed to have such an easy transition into motherhood.
zack's mini-me

I will say, I haven't really experienced the "baby blues" I kept hearing about... I do get very emotional and cry all the time though..
Especially seeing Zack love on Wyatt, or my brothers.. it all melts my heart so much. The best is that my doting husband will stay up with the baby all night so that I can get a few hours of shut-eye before the next feeding. Not that it's frustrating or anything, Wyatt doesn't fuss - he's just wide awake and wants to interact lol.. But regardless.. Zack - you are an amazing father and husband and I am so grateful to have you. Love is an understatement for how I feel about you.
Here's the CUTEST video of Wyatt smiling at daddy:

Story time:  One day, Zack and I were feeling pretty daring as parents, and left Wyatt upstairs to sleep. We brought down the baby monitor, but somehow it got shoved down in couch cushions and we couldn't hear it. All of a sudden, my mommy instincts kicked in and I just had to know where the monitor was. Sure enough, when we found it - Wyatt was crying harder than I had ever heard him cry (mostly because he just whimpers), but I felt my stomach drop immediately. Zack ran upstairs to get the baby, and when he brought him downstairs, coddling him and soothing his cries, I immediately ripped the baby out of his arms and started crying because I felt like such a bad mommy.... of course Zack made fun of me and laughed it off.. but I couldn't help myself haha!

Let's see.. what else is going on..

We did a newborn massage class last weekend & Wyatt LOVED it. He got to be the little model baby for the ladies becoming certified instructors to observe a "class." The little guy didn't even open an eye or make a fuss for any part of the hour and a half lesson. He just laid there, sleeping, loving life and loving the rub down. He's so mellow.. for those of you who've gotten to meet him, you know what I'm talking about.. it's honestly surreal :)

We also had newborn pictures taken by Brooke Faust - she's AMAZING!!! When we get the final edits, I'll definitely be posting them.. the pictures are breathtaking. To see a little preview, click on his name...
Wyatt

I also have a video of Wyatt's first "big boy" bath.. I'll have to edit that and post on the next entry..

Tomorrow is our 2-week checkup, and I'm very excited to see how long he is now. I swear this kid is gonna be taller than me by his first birthday... We'll be updating with that information later! :)

Happy summer day :)
